Pastrnak signs 6-year, $40M deal with the Bruins

BOSTON — David Pastrnak has reportedly agreed to a six-year deal with the Boston Bruins.

The 21-year-old Czech winger had reportedly been considering offers from KHL clubs before striking a new deal with the B's.

Pastrnak has been in Boston since 2014 and has amassed 123 points across three seasons with the first team.

"I've always said we were going to find a deal," said Sweeney. "It took time, right up against it. There wasn't a deadline. We didn't look at it that way. We had a strong level of communication and I think the work paid off for both sides to find a good landing spot and I know that both sides are extremely happy to have it resolved."

"We're a better team with him in the lineup. I think that's obivous," said head coach Bruce Cassidy. "It will be great to see him. I think the players will feel the same way, but good for Donny to get it done.  He's a Bruin. I truly believe he wants to be a Bruin and now is a Bruin and ready to go."

"We'll have him do the testing with everybody watching as a little hazing for, what was it, a 20-30 minute holdout?," said David Backes. "It's great to see that everyone will be here and that we're at full power going into the season."

Asked if the large contract would turn any heads in the locker room or create any jealousy, Patrice Bergeron said no.

"It's the business side of things," said Bergeron. "You can't really put much emphasis on that. We want to win. We know that's something that needs to be dealt with between your agent and the team and thy agreed on something that they feel is fair for both sides and for us as players, we have to worry about playing games, winning and finding a chemistry as a team to do some good things on the ice."
