LYNN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A 21-year-old hit by a car alongside his twin brother was declared brain dead on Friday, but kept on life support Saturday while doctors harvested his organs for donation.

Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital told The Lynn Daily Item that Dillon McManus had been brain dead for at least 24 hours. Their report cites a close family friend.

Gerry McManus, Dillon and Riley's father, told the newspaper that his son's organs were donated to five people.

Dillon's brother, Riley, is in a medically induced coma and underwent five hours of surgery on Saturday to repair a punctured lung, and a smashed hip and pelvis. Riley's injuries could take months or even years to completely repair.

The twins were hit by a car outside their home on Boston Street in Lynn on Wednesday night. No charges have been filed against the driver, Angela Okenkwo, but an investigation into the tragic incident remains ongoing.
