Report: Northeast casino market reaching a 'saturation point'

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A new report claims the Northeast is reaching a "saturation point" in the casino industry.

The Wall Street Journal reports more casinos have opened in the Northeast in the past decade than in any other area in the United States, with 26 casinos opening since 2004.

According to the newspaper, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania have experienced a drop in casino revenue. In Delaware, the industry is reportedly requesting a tax break.
The report comes just one week after the Massachusetts Gaming Commission named MGM Springfield the state's first official casino operator. A 2011 law allows up to three resort-style casinos to be built in the Commonwealth.
