• Report: Logan Airport ranks in top 20 for TSA thefts

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – An unsettling report has surfaced naming Logan International Airport in Boston among the top 20 airports with TSA thefts.

Since 2003, 381 TSA officers across the country have been fired for stealing. Newly released figures obtained by ABC News show six of those 381 worked at Logan Airport.

Logan Airport is the 19th busiest airport in the country, and is now ranked 17th for TSA employees terminated for theft. Logan shares the ranking with San Diego International and Denver International.

The TSA pointed out that they have employed 3425 people as security officers at Logan Airport in the last 10 years.

Miami International Airport claimed the number one spot on the list with 29 terminations while JFK International Airport in New York City was a close second with 27 terminations. LAX in Los Angeles completed the top three with 24 terminations.

Cash, electronics, and jewelry are among the items most commonly stolen.

One screener arrested at Ft. Lauderdale International was caught with an iPad shoved down his pants. He later admitted to stealing $50,000 worth of valuables over a two year period.

TSA spokeswoman Ann Davis released a statement saying, "TSA holds its employees to the highest ethical standards and expects all TSA employees to conduct themselves with integrity and professionalism. TSA has zero tolerance for misconduct in the workplace and takes appropriate action when allegations are substantiated."

According to the TSA, the number of employees terminated represent less than one half of one percent of officers employed by the agency.
