FRAMINGHAM (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A grand jury is reportedly probing the compounding pharmacy at the center of a meningitis outbreak that has killed dozens of people across 19 states.
The Boston Globe reports that a grand jury is in the process of issuing subpoenas to people who worked for the Framingham-based New England Compounding Center.
The newspaper reports that U.S. officials declined to comment on the investigation.
Grand jury investigations are typically conducted before prosecutors decide whether or not to press criminal charges.
As of Saturday, a total of 510 cases of fungal meningitis were reported with 36 resulting in fatality.
