Falmouth doctor sues for right to die

BOSTON — A retired Falmouth doctor is asking a judge for the right to die.

Dr. Roger Kligler has cancer and says he should be the one in control of what happens to his life. He has stage four prostate cancer and wants to option to end his life with the help of a doctor.

"I don't want my doctor to be arrested for murder," he told FOX25.

He's part of a lawsuit just filed in Boston that names the state's Attorney General and the District Attorney for Barnstable County, fighting for the right to end his life.

The lawsuit seeks "clarification of what is allowed and not allowed," the Boston Globe reports.

Kligler's condition is getting worse and he said he wants this to be an option. The lawsuit was filed by an organization in Denver called Compassion and Choices on behalf of Dr. Kligler and another physician.

The AG's office would not comment on the case.
