Report: 38 Studios no longer paying workers, could close by weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Curt Schilling's video game company could be out of business by the weekend.

Popular gaming website Joystick.com is reporting that workers at 38 Studios haven't gotten a pay check since May 1 and their health insurance runs out Thursday.

When asked if the company will be able to stay open through the weekend, a source told the site the outlook isn't good.

Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee says that the company hasn't received any of the additional state aid it has requested.

Both the chief executive and senior vice president updated their profiles on LinkedIn to show they no longer work at 38 Studios.

Last week, the company defaulted on its first payment to Rhode Island towards a $75 million loan.
