Rep. Winslow wants speed limit raised to 70 mph

(MyFoxBoston.com) – A state lawmaker is looking to raise the speed limit on several Massachusetts highways.

Norfolk Rep. Dan Winslow told the State House News Service he wants to up the speed limit to 70 miles per hour on parts of the Massachusetts Turnpike, Interstate 91 and Interstate 95.

Winslow said our roads and cars are designed to go faster than the 65 miles per hour currently allowed on parts of the highways.

He said increasing it could make the driving laws more enforceable, adding that a majority of other states have 70 miles per hour speed limits.
