Rep. Joe Kennedy III to give Democratic response after State of the Union

WASHINGTON – Massachusetts Congressman Joe Kennedy III will be delivering the democratic response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, democratic leaders announces Thursday.

“Congressman Kennedy is a relentless fighter for working Americans,” said U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.  “While President Trump has consistently broken his promises to the middle class, Congressman Kennedy profoundly understands the challenges facing hard-working men and women across the country.  His leadership has been vital in educating a next-generation workforce, in creating good-paying manufacturing jobs and in expanding opportunities for the middle class.”

Kennedy took office in 2013 and represents the 4th congressional district in Massachusetts when he replaced Barney Frank. He’s the son of Joseph P. Kennedy II and grandson of Robert F. Kennedy.

President Trump’s State of the Union is scheduled for 09 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30. It will be directly followed by Rep. Kennedy’s response. Boston 25 News will carry both speeches live on air.
