Remy accused of throwing milk carton at correction officer

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Accused killer Jared Remy is being accused of causing more problems behind bars.

In a letter to the Boston Herald, Remy says he's being investigated for hurling a milk carton at the correction officer assigned to watch him in solitary confinement. Remy mailed the incident report to the newspaper in a new letter.

Remy is accused of repeatedly threatening the officer on April 25, reports the newspaper. After approximately two minutes, he threw the closed carton at the officer, hitting him in the collar bone.

"The safety of corrections officers and staff as well as those in our custody is paramount. The Middlesex Sheriff's Office has zero tolerance for violence in our institutions. Any action big or small with the intent to harm or intimidate another individual is unacceptable and will be vigorously prosecuted by this office," said Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian in a statement Friday.

Remy is already facing charges for allegedly assaulting a convicted child molester at the Cambridge jail in April.

The son of Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy is in jail awaiting trial for the murder of his girlfriend and mother of his child, Jennifer Martel, last August. He's expected to go on trial in October.
