Registered sex offender arrested on child porn charges

WESTBOROUGH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 50-year-old Southborough man was arrested on Sept. 30 for reportedly possessing images of child pornography.

Daniel Goichman, a registered sex offender, was arraigned in Westborough District Court on Oct. 1 on three counts of possession of child pornography charges. He pleaded not guilty and is due back in court on Oct. 31 for a pre-trial conference.

In February 2012, Massachusetts State Police obtained information indicating that a registered sex offender was allegedly soliciting minors over the Internet. On Sept. 27, troopers executed a search warrant at Goichman's Southborough residence and seized Goichman's computer which reportedly contained files of child pornography.

The suspect was arrested without incident at his home on Sept. 30.

Being a Level 2 sex offender, Goichman was not supposed to be living within 1,000 feet of places where children gather; however, Goichman has been living for over two years at his apartment building just a few houses away from Village Preschool.

Goichman was convicted in 2002 for sexually assaulting a minor. When he first moved to the East Main Street apartment building, he registered his new address.

Police in Southborough should have checked it out, but that never happened.

The new information came to light during Goichman's most recent arrest.

Goichman has 30 days to move out of the apartment building.

Town leaders are assuring residents that this will not happen again.
