Red Sox's Ryan Kalish slated for surgery

BOSTON (FOX 25/myfoxboston.com)—Boston Red Sox outfielder Ryan Kalish, is expected to have surgery on his right shoulder and miss spring training.

Kalish is set to undergo surgery on his right, non-throwing shoulder, with Dr. Lewis Yocum on Tuesday.

Dr. Lewis Yocum will perform the operation on Tuesday.

This operation comes after an injury plagued season in which Kalish was recovering from surgery in his left shoulder as well as a bulging disk in his neck. He batted .229 with zero homers and five RBIs in 36 games for the Red Sox.

Due to Kalish's injuries, the team has re-signed former outfielder Ryan Sweeney to a minor-league deal. Sweeney will most likely receive an invitation to spring training.
