Red Sox honor Pesky with postgame ceremony

BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Red Sox have honored the late Johnny Pesky at a postgame ceremony at Fenway Park.

Some fans who attended Boston's 2-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, and others who were admitted afterward, listened to current and former Red Sox players reminisce about the former player, manager and broadcaster who died on Aug. 13.

Among those who spoke were retired players Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez, Tim Wakefield and Jason Varitek, Hall of Famers Carlton Fisk and Jim Rice, and active players David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia. Most, if not all, current Boston players, attended.

Pesky died at the age of 93. Baseball records show his birth date as Sept. 27, 1919, a change he once made to meet scouting age limits for tryouts.
