Red Sox ask City of Boston to change the name of Yawkey Way

The Boston Red Sox have formally asked the City of Boston to change the name of Yawkey Way.

Ownership did not show up for Thursday morning's hearing with Boston's Public Improvement Commission.

The organization says it wants the street to be changed back to the original name of Jersey Street because of Tom Yawkey's history of racism.

A handful of people testified at the hearing - including former Red Sox pitcher Jim Lonborg.

No decision has been made - another hearing about the street has been scheduled for later this month.
