Red Sox 1912 World Series Trophy goes up for auction

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A priceless piece of Red Sox history will soon be tagged and sold to the highest bidder.

Heritage Auctions is auctioning off the 1912 Boston Red Sox World Series Trophy presented to Manager Jake Stahl.

The description posted along with the trophy explains the deep significance of the award.

"The 1912 baseball season is recognized by many historians as the most significant in Boston Red Sox history, marking the birth of the hallowed grounds of Fenway Park and the opening salvo in an era of dominance that would manifest four World Championships in a seven-season span," reads the description.

So how much will you have to dish out to own the trophy? As of Saturday, the highest absentee bid was $90,000 and that will certainly climb with weeks left until the August 1 closing for online absentee bidders.
