Red Line experiencing severe delays due to fire at JFK Station

BOSTON — The Boston Fire Department is at JFK Station on the Red Line for reports of a smile fire that began around 5 p.m..

According to Fire Chief Steve MacDonald, the fire needed to be cut off to the third rail before crews could extinguish the flames.

The fire caused severe delays across the Red Line impacting many commuters at rush hour.

The MBTA said the all clear was given around 5:45 p.m., although residual delays lingered.
