Reading man found after Silver Alert issued

SAUGUS, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A missing man with Alzheimer's Disease was found on Sunday after a Silver Alert was issued when he went missing on Friday evening.

Lawrence Mellen, 76, who lives in Reading, was last seen at around 6:15 p.m. on Route 1 in Saugus at the Boston Interiors furniture store. When his wife entered the store, Mellen drove away from the store parking lot, leaving his wife stranded, and has not been seen since. The car he was driving was a 2001 green Saab SE 9-5.

Saugus police confirmed on Sunday that Mellen had been found, though they did not say where  he was found.

Silver Alerts are issued to the public about missing seniors with Alzheimer's Disease, dementia or other mental disabilities in order to help in their safe return.
