Raynham man transported to hospital after dump truck hits overpass

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 37-year-old Raynham man sustained non-life threatening injuries when the dump truck he was driving hit an overpass on I-495 north Saturday.

Mass. State Police responded to the crash just after 2 a.m. near the Route 106 overpass in Foxborough. They believe the dump truck's body was raised when it approached the overpass, which prompted the collision.

The impact caused the body of the truck to separate from the cab and roll across the other travel lanes. Fuel from the truck spilled onto the road as result of the crash.

The roadway was closed until just after 6 a.m. as crews worked to clean up the debris and inspect the overpass. MassDOT determined there was minimal damage to the overpass.

Police say the driver was transported to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
