Race for Mayor: Connolly has new ad, Walsh has new energy

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – The race for Mayor of Boston is charging forward with one of the candidates insinuating he is the man for the job because he is a family man.

Mayoral candidate John Connolly is touting a new ad prominently featuring his wife, Meg. Connolly is capitalizing on what is now known as the so-called "Mom Machine," working to help get him elected as mayor.

On Monday morning, Meg Connolly joined FOX 25 to talk about the new ad. In the ad, Meg Connolly talks about her husband's education plan and also the team of moms working on her husband's behalf.

When it comes to women, two recent polls show Connolly has a wide lead over Rep. Marty Walsh.

On the other hand, Walsh says his campaign has a new energy after a weekend of high profile endorsements, including support from Charlotte Golar Richie, who finished third in the preliminary election.

On Monday, Walsh stood out in front of the State House where he was endorsed by Democratic state representatives from liberal cities and towns like Cambridge, Newton, and Brookline.

Walsh says if he elected mayor, he will continue these relationships for the good of the city, but this appearance is meant to showcase the more liberal side of the Dorchester Democrat.

Before that, Walsh received endorsements from former candidates Felix Arroyo and John Barros.

Connolly and Walsh will square off in the first debate of the race Tuesday night.
