Quincy store owner charged with EBT fraud

(MyFoxBoston.com) – The crackdown on EBT fraud continues, and a Quincy store owner is the latest to be taken down in a string of arrests.

The Attorney General's Office told FOX 25 a nearly two-year investigation led them to Pat Lu.

Lu is the owner of Pat's Mini-Mart in Quincy. The 48-year-old is accused of providing cash to EBT card holders by charging them for items they would never purchase. He would then give the customer cash, keeping half the amount he would enter for himself.

Lu is charged with larceny by continuous scheme, procurement fraud, and access device fraud.

Twenty-one other individuals were also charged with their involvement in similar EBT scams.
