Quincy store owner charged in EBT card scam

QUINCY (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A Quincy store owner is under fire, accused of running an EBT card-for-cash scam.

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley's office says 48-year-old Pat Lu was indicted by a grand jury this week on larceny and fraud charges.

Lu's store allegedly rang up $800,000 in fake sales on EBT cards between October 2010 and April of this year. He then gave customers back half that amount in cash.

Prosecutors say he made about $30,000 in profits per month.

No court date has been set.
