Quincy police seeking suspect who stole purse from 92-year-old

QUINCY, Mass. – A violent criminal is on the run after stealing a purse from a woman who uses a walker, Quincy Police said.

The attack was caught on camera, and friends of 92-year-old Doris Prendiville say it’s hard for them to watch.

“I can’t even believe someone would do this to a woman her age,” John Stanton said. “Doris is a sweetheart. God love her she is so nice.”

Quincy Police posted video of the attack on Facebook. Detective Lieutenant John Steele says it made him nauseous.

“It’s violent. You see her go right down. Her arms up in the air. It’s very disturbing,” he said.

Doris has a broken sternum and several other injuries, her daughter Chris Prendiville told Boston 25 News.

“She has abrasions on both knees, she has some bruising on her leg and upper arm, sprained fingers and a bruise on her chin from where they pushed her into the fence,” she said.

Moments after the robbery, a young woman is seen in second video helping Doris. Police believe she was with the man who robbed the 92-year-old and they hope someone recognizes her.

The manager of the building where Doris lives, Madeline Santiago, says all of her neighbors are praying she gets well soon and has a message for the robber.

“Shame on them. It’s just despicable, horrifying, just no heart,” she said.
