Quincy police investigating suspicious deliveries of cell phones

QUINCY, Mass. — Police are investigating after several suspicious incidents of unexpected package deliveries to Quincy homes.

Jim Jaehnig said one of the packages was brought to his door.

“A package delivered by FedEx, wasn’t my name but the correct address. Within four minutes a fellow showed up at the door looking for the package,” he said.

Jaehnig said he knew something was fishy and told the man he couldn’t have it then called police.

“He was uneasy, definitely uneasy and on edge,” Jaehnig said.

Quincy police said at least three people had similar run-ins recently. They happened on or near Center Street and Robertson Street. All of the deliveries were between noon and 2 p.m. when most people are at work.

“Just kind of weird the whole scenario,” Jaehnig said.

Police agree. They confiscated all three shoe box-size pkgs. Each one contained a cell phone, and reportedly they’re not cheap.

“I’m not a big phone guy but people tell me it was a $700 or $800 phone,” Jaehnig said.

Police are investigating and Jaehnig says the incident made his whole family uneasy.

“I’ve got young kids and my kids were unnerved that night certainly,” he said.
