Quincy man dies after trying to break up fight

QUINCY, Mass. — A night out with the guys turned tragic for a father from Quincy over the weekend.

Brian Hingston's wife spoke with FOX25's Robert Goulston, who says he was with a large group using a rented 'party bus' service. She says when the group was dropped off near the Eirie Pub, there was a fight and Hingston tried to break it up.

She said Hingston was hit and fell backward, hitting his head. The father of three later died.

It happened in a parking lot surrounded by businesses and most of them have several security cameras.

One business owner said detectives went through his surveillance cameras for several hours on Monday. It's unclear if they found any helpful footage.

Boston Police say they are investigating the death after some sort of fight, but no one has been arrested yet.

Hingston was well known in Charlestown, where he's from. One long time friend said the father of three lived in Quincy and was everyone's friend and everyone loved him.

Hingston's family sent a statement Tuesday evening, which read:

"Brian Hingston was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. His loss is unimaginable to all that knew and loved him. He was a gentleman who loved his family, loved to laugh, enjoyed traveling and music. Brian died a true hero as his organs were donated to save six lives. He had also previously run the Boston Marathon as part of the Boston Fire Department team and raised money for the Kenny Quinn Ford Brain Tumor Research Foundation. He was taken from us far too soon and we ask for privacy as we deal with our grief and his senseless death. We will not be commenting on the events surrounding his death as the investigation is ongoing by the Boston Police Department."
