QUINCY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Quincy developer and suspect in a rape case is out of jail.
FOX 25 has confirmed William O'Connell was released on bail Thursday. O'Connell is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl in 2009.
Last year, the alleged victim died in a car crash in Malden. Her death means statements she made to investigators cannot be used as evidence at trial.
Thursday, O'Connell's lawyer asked a judge to drop the statutory rape charges against him if he pleads guilty to possessing cocaine.
The case is expected to be ruled "unwilling to pursue" at a hearing in Norfolk Superior Court Friday.
