Puffin found on Mass. beach

An unusual aquatic bird was found on Wednesday morning at Nantasket Beach.

FOX 25 viewers sent in photos of a puffin that turned up on the beach.

According to National Geographic, puffins spend most of their time at sea, but visit North Atlantic seacoasts in the spring and summer to form breeding colonies.

Experts say it is rare for a puffin to be spotted in Mass. and that this puffin was likely pushed toward Nantasket due to bad weather. The bird was released back into the water and was able to leave without issue.
