BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Commuters planning to travel through the Prudential Tunnel should expect weekend detours through April.
Mass. Department of Transportation officials say work to remove the ceiling of the tunnel on Interstate 90 will last for four weekends. New ceiling panels will be installed as needed.
The following closures are expected:
- Arlington Street Westbound On-Ramp Closure (3/21-23, 3/28-30, 4/4-6 and 4/25-27)
- Clarendon Street Westbound On-Ramp Closure (3/21-23 and 3/28-30)
- Dartmouth Street Westbound On-Ramp Closure (3/21-23 and 3/28-30)
- Prudential/Copley Eastbound
Commuters traveling from Logan Airport to points west on I-90 should consider using the Sumner Tunnel to Storrow Drive, however commercial motor vehicles are restricted from this road. Those traveling from the west to Boston should also consider using Storrow Drive.
Heavy commercial vehicles should use I-95 and I-93 to avoid the work area.
Those traveling in downtown Boston should expect increased traffic on surface streets in the Back Bay. Detours to access I-90 westbound will be in place.
