'Professional burglars' hit three convenience stores in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. — A team of burglars stole thousands of dollars from three Brockton convenience stores.

Investigators believe it is a team of professionals who could be operating across the state.

It's was just after 3 a.m. when police said four men pried their way into the Mobil convenience store on Belmont Street. Carrying crowbars and tools, the team took out the ATM in the corner and then the safe underneath the counter, surveillance video shows.

"They moved the entire counter to move the safe. The safe and ATM have bolts in the ground and they were cut,” said Khan Mudasser, the store’s manager.

Boston 25 News spoke to the store manager hours after his shop was ransacked. Owners said the damage to this store costs more than the stolen cash.

Investigators say those burglars had a busy night— then breaking into the 7-11 on Belmont Street and on Pleasant.

A spokesperson for the Brockton Police Department called this a "big hit" and said the team is likely made up of professional burglars who operate across the state.

Police said they took off in a white Ford Econoline van. Even with this surveillance video, it's still hard to pick out any distinguishing characteristics.

There are five cameras inside this Mobil gas station and two more on the outside. Owners told Boston 25 News they're going to revamp their entire system since this burglary.

They're also going to reinforce their front door to hopefully prevent anything like this from ever happening again.
