Possible pipe bomb heavily damages car outside Blackstone home

BLACKSTONE, Mass. — An investigation is underway in Blackstone after a possible pipe bomb exploded and heavily damaged a vehicle outside a home Thursday evening.

Few details have been released, but police said they were called to a home on Lakeshore Drive around 6:15 p.m. to investigate reports of vandalism to a vehicle.

When they arrived at the home, police were met by the homeowner who reported hearing a loud bang that shook his home and noticed extensive damage to his vehicle.

The officer requested a supervisor to the scene, and the preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle was damaged by an explosive device, possibly a pipe bomb.
