Pool water used to help extinguish West Barnstable blaze

BARNSTABLE, Mass. — Fire ripped through a home on the Cape Wednesday night and now investigators are trying to figure out what sparked it.

The blaze began just after 10 p.m. on Lothrop's Lane in West Barnstable, and crews from several fire departments were called in to help.

The area where the fire broke out doesn’t have any fire hydrants, so tanker trucks were used to bring in water from as far away as Plymouth to help crews.

At one point firefighters were using water from nearby pools to help douse the flames.

The owner of the home told the Cape Cod Times that the house had been undergoing renovations to repair flood damage and the family had hoped to move back in soon.

No injuries were reported.
