Polito's Take: No mercy for Dzhokhar

Are you a part of the growing number of people who have softened on Dzhokhar? Do you focus most of your anger and disdain on his dead older brother Tamerlan? Have you joined the legions of Dzhokhar defenders? Oh sure, you are still the first to say he's guilty, just not as guilty as his brother.

I don't care if his brother threatened to kill him, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is responsible for his own actions. This man placed a bomb at the feet of an 8-year-old boy. Case closed. Spare me the pseudo psychology and legal speculation. Whether he was the mastermind or not he still did it.

Don't get me wrong, I understand there are degrees of legal responsibility and some people can be influenced by others. We may learn that Tamerlan was the leader and driving force behind this heinous act. My question to you is where do you draw the line? I'd say that Dzhokhar drew that line between himself and humanity. He made a choice and choices have consequences. His choice resulted in the loss of four souls, the injuring of 200 innocent people and billions of dollars in damage and lost commerce.

Unfortunately, the victims were not presented with a choice to spare themselves from the carnage. Their destiny was forged by two evil brothers who are equally responsible for their actions.
