Woman wakes to find unknown man watching her sleep

BOSTON — Boston police are investigating after a woman reported waking up in her apartment Friday morning to find an unknown man sitting on her bed, watching her while she slept.

The incident happened around 6:45 a.m. at a private apartment complex at 1 South Point Drive in Southie. When the woman woke up, she screamed and the man ran away. He was carrying his shoes in his hands.

The apartment building is secured with a key entry and the victim reported leaving her apartment door unlocked after doing laundry late at night. Most of the people who live there are UMass Boston students.

“We have a good buzzing system, but obviously there’s other ways to get in,” Cole Bechard said. “Some people just let other people in.”

Boston Police searched the area, but have yet to locate the man. He's described as Middle Eastern, about 5-foot-5 and was wearing a red shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
