Police: Woman in Boston had bike stolen by cop impersonator

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Boston are investigating an incident possibly involving a cop impersonator that occurred near the Prudential Center late Saturday night.

A woman riding her bicycle in the area of West Newton Street and St. Botolph Street told police she was approached by a man who identified himself as a Boston police officer, snatched her bike, and then took off in the direction of Copley Place, reports The Boston Globe.

The victim, who is in her 50s, said she engaged in a brief struggle with the man and was tossed to the ground.

The man is described as being in his 30s with a stocky build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and blue jeans, police told the newspaper.

Authorities searched the area to no avail.
