BRAINTREE, Mass. -- Police are warning residents to be vigilant about locking the doors on their cars after a string of break-ins and thefts over the weekend.
Braintree police said at least 30 vehicles were entered, generally on the east side of town, and rummaged through. Items were stolen from several vehicles including loose change, sunglasses, cologne, at least one iPod and a computer.
During one break-in early Monday morning on Cedarcliff Road, police said they interrupted the suspect. The suspect fled and managed to escape after leading police on a foot chase through several yards.
All of the cars that were targeted were unlocked, police said.
It's another reminder leading police to promote #9PMRoutine on social media urging people to lock their car doors before bed.
