DEVENS, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – State police say a trooper who took his own life this week was under a criminal investigation.

The 40-year-old trooper shot himself on Monday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Devens.  He had just been relieved of duty.

The trooper was under investigation because of an alleged criminal act that happened on Sunday morning. Sources told FOX 25 the investigation involved an alleged sexual assault while the trooper was on duty.

State police are not releasing that trooper's name, but sources say he is Gregory Jasinskas, originally of Abington. He was an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran.
