Police threaten arrests at sledding hill

After a series of injuries at a popular sledding hill in Methuen, police are starting to crack down.

A child and two young women were injured after crashing into trees on the hill at Greycourt Park.

According to the Eagle Tribune, the first crash happened on Sunday at about 3:30 p.m. A 22-year-old woman was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital after suffering severe internal injuries after a crash.

On New Year's Eve, a 22-year-old woman and her 11-year-old sister lost control and crashed into trees, according to the Eagle Tribune. The woman broke her pelvis, femur and ankle and had serious head trauma including a broken orbital bone. The 11-year-old injured her head and back.

The hill has since been marked with no sledding signs and yellow caution tape. Police have also stepped up patrols in the area.

Officials say they'll charge those who ignore the signs with trespassing.
