Police: Suspects tried to offer eyewitnesses to theft $20

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Two men, who attempted to bribe neighbors after they were caught stealing radiators from a vacant Springfield home, were arrested after the neighbor refused to accept their $20 bribe, police said.

Jose Gonzalez, 28, and Nathaniel Guerra, also 28, have been charged with breaking and entering during the daytime with intent to commit a felony and larceny over $250.

According to police, Gonzalez and Guerra broke into a vacant home on Cleveland Street at about 10:45 a.m. The two men were allegedly spotted by neighbors stealing large metal radiators from the home and offered one of the neighbors $20 not to call police; however, the alleged bribe didn't work and police were called.

Both suspects were arraigned Tuesday.
