Police: Student arrested after bringing gun to Boston school

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 17-year-old student was arrested at the Burke School in Roxbury Thursday after police say they found a gun in his backpack.

Boston police were called to the scene after school police received information suggesting a student had a gun.

Other students approached school administrators to tell them the teen was telling people he had a gun on him. Officers located and approached the student, at which time they say he became both verbally and physically combative.

The student was subdued after a brief struggle with police. Investigators say they searched his backpack and found the gun.

The unidentified Dorchester teen was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
