Police still seeking answers 6 years after Andover double murder

ANDOVER, Mass. – From the outside looking in, John and Geraldine Magee appeared to have it all -- success, wealth, a beautiful family and a long lasting marriage.

But just shy of their 40th anniversary, the Magees were found dead in their 6,000 square foot, Andover home.

The couple was shot in what investigators call a cold-blooded, calculated murder. Their bodies were found by their daughter and granddaughter on Dec. 14, 2011 but to this point investigators have not been able to determine who is responsible.

“It is our belief that someone knows something that could help us solve the case and bring justice and peace of mind to the Magee family and the residents of Andover," Essex County District Attorney John Blodgett said on the sixth anniversary of the double murder.

Another mystery is what happened to the couple’s Lexus SUV, which was found torched in Boston’s North End several hours before their bodies were discovered.

The Magees made their money in land and construction. They developing the neighborhood they lived in and many others like it north of Boston.

Homicide investigators have followed leads in four different states and 20 different Massachusetts cities and towns, repeatedly interviewing family, friends and business associates.

On the sixth anniversary of the grisly find on Orchard Crossing, police are hoping that the person who could help them crack this cold case will finally come forward and break their silence.

"Every member of the Andover Police Department remains committed to finding the person or persons responsible for taking the lives of John and Geraldine Magee. We are asking people to search their memories and consciences and come forward with any information that they may have," Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe said.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office at 978-745-8908 or the Andover Police Anonymous Tip Line at 978-470-3864.
