Police seek armed robbery suspects who allegedly taped up worker

NEWTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police are searching for two robbery suspects considered armed and dangerous.

The Newton Police Department released surveillance video of the suspects late Saturday night of the 2nd Appearance consignment store on Washington Street in Newton.

Officers say a woman entered the shop late Saturday afternoon, but then left without buying anything, saying she would be back with a friend. A short time later, a worker said she returned with a man.

That's when the pair allegedly flashed a knife, and duct-taped that worker before rifling through the store.

"They restrained the employee's hands and legs, and put duct tape over their mouth," said Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker. "They moved that employee to the back of the store, and they stole an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry."

That worker was able to free herself about a half hour later and call police.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspects is asked to call Newton police at (617) 796-2100.
