Police searching for man in Arlington bank robbery

ARLINGTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Arlington Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man wanted for robbing a Mass. Ave bank.

Investigators say the suspect entered through the rear entrance of the Citizen's Bank at 1420 Massachusetts Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. on Thursday. The suspect jumped on the counter at the teller window and demanded cash from a bank employee. He was able to escape with money out of the rear entrance.

The robber ran east and began hopping fenced behind local businesses. During his escape, dye packs that were included with the cash exploded.

Police from Arlington and Lexington searched for the robber. They were able to recover several thousand dollars and the exploded dye packs.

While responding to the robbery, a police officer crashed his cruiser. His injuries were considered non-life threatening.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5'6" tall, wearing a maroon baseball hat, dark hooded sweatshirt, and sneakers. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing sunglasses and covered his mouth with a dark scarf.
