Police searching for driver after tractor-trailer crashes into Beverly home

BEVERLY, Mass. — Police in Beverly are searching for the driver of a tractor-trailer that crashed into a home early Thursday morning.

The incident was reported around 1 a.m. at 42 Roundy St., and the front of the home was heavily damaged.

There were four people inside the home at the time of the crash, but luckily no injuries were reported.

“My dad felt most of it, as his bedroom is right upstairs,” Glenti Jalli said. “He woke me up and I thought it wasn’t that big of a deal.”

Jalli said he just thought some furniture fell over, until he went downstairs.

“Once I opened the door into our little room, we saw a big hole in the wall,” he said. “I was speechless. I’m still speechless.”

The family said the tractor-trailer had been parked on the street all day and the driver may have been visiting someone.

Jalli said the truck barreled between two parked cars before slamming into the home.

That’s when the driver fled.

“I tried to chase him, but he was nowhere to be found,” Jalli said.

Jalli said a male passenger did speak with police.

Crews are now working overnight to repair the large hole in the front of the home.

“Thank God everyone is safe, but we have to find the guy who did it,” Jalli said.

Police identified the driver as 24-year-old Samuel Felder of Valdosta, Georgia. Police are still searching for Felder and say charges are pending.
