Police search for suspect accused of assaulting, robbing cab driver

PELHAM, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in New Hampshire are searching for a male suspect accused of assaulting and robbing a cab driver in the area of Sherburne Road and Blackstone Circle in Pelham early Sunday morning.

Police received the call from the 20-year-old Check Cab Co. driver at about 4:04 a.m. He told police he was flagged down by a man Lowell, Mass. who asked to be taken to Flint Street in Tyngsboro, Mass. The man then reportedly provided directions which led them to Sherburne Road in Pelham.

In the area of Blackstone Circle, the suspect asked the driver to stop his cab so he could look for a cell phone that he had just dropped. The driver stopped the cab and helped look, but as he bent over the suspect pushed the driver's head against the dashboard and then took approximately $125 in cash that was on the front passenger seat.

The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The driver refused medical treatment for a small cut he sustained on his left cheek.

The suspect is described as a pale, white-skinned male approximately 6'0"tall with dark brown wavy hair. He appeared to be in his 30s.

The incident is still under investigation at this time.
