• Police search for 3 men after shots fired at Lowell detective


    LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Investigators across the state are looking for car reportedly involved in an incident of shots fired at a Lowell police detective.

    The Lowell Sun reports an undercover detective was shot at five times as he conducted surveillance on three men in the area of Moore and Lawrence Streets Wednesday. He was not injured in the shooting and did not shoot back since he was in traffic.

    The detective followed the suspects to the intersection of Woburn and Lawrence streets where he lost sight of them.

    Investigators are looking for a black 2008 Honda Accord with license plate VT347Z. Anyone who sees the car should call 911, Lowell police at 978-937-3200, or Crimestoppers at 978-459-TIPS (8477). Tips can be made via text message by texting TIP411 (847411) with the subject LPDTIP.
