TAUNTON, Mass. - Investigators are trying to determine why a man went on a stabbing rampage in Taunton Tuesday evening.
The suspect, a Taunton man, ultimately killed two people and injured several others before being shot dead.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

Authorities say it all began when 28-year-old Arthur DaRosa of Taunton crashed a car outside of a house on Myricks Street.

They say he walked inside the home and stabbed an 80-year-old woman and her daughter. The 80-year-old woman later died. The daughter suffered life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say DaRosa then drove to the Silver City Galleria mall, where he crashed into the front of Macy's department store. They say he assaulted multiple people inside the store before running to Bertucci's restaurant and stabbing two more people, including 56-year-old George Heath, who died at a hospital.

An off-duty sheriff's deputy then fatally shot DaRosa. The DA said the off-duty officer happened to be inside the restaurant and asked DaRosa to stop several times before shooting him.

It's unclear why DaRosa went on the stabbing rampage, but police say that there does not appear to be any connection to terrorism.
