Police chase ends with crash in Raynham

Massachusetts State Police Troopers are assisting Raynham police with a crash and arrest of a wanted suspect.

According to the Taunton Emergency Management Agency, a serious pedestrian accident shut down Route 138 into Raynham Tuesday afternoon.

It all started just after noon when Raynham police initiated a chase after a driver fled from an Easton police officer trying to conduct a motor vehicle stop. State Police Troopers were called in to help with the pursuit.

Police in Raynham deployed tire deflation devices into the road. The driver drove over one, avoided the second and soon after crashed into two cars on Route 138 near Britton Street. Officials say a pedestrian was also hit and rushed to the hospital.

Three occupants in one of the cars suffered injuries.

Raynham police arrested 24-year-old Alexander Cruz of Taunton for negligent operation, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of property damage and personal injury. Officials say Cruz also has three arrest warrants related to three separate incidents out of Taunton District Court.

Police say a female passenger in Cruz's car suffered serious injuries and was taken by Medflight to a Boston hospital.

Cruz is set to be arraigned on Wednesday morning,
