DERRY, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A 33-year-old Derry woman is facing child endangerment charges after she left her two small children inside a hot car in a Walmart parking lot Tuesday, police said.
Marie Dennis, 33, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), resisting arrest (one count), and second-degree assault (two counts).
Police and fire officials responded to the Walmart on Ashley Drive after a concerned citizen called to report seeing two children inside a car. When officials arrived, crews had to break into the car to rescue the children.
The children, ages 2 and 3, were taken to an area hospital and treated for heat exhaustion.
Dennis was arraigned Wednesday. A judge set her bail at $5,000 cash or surety. She was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18. She remains in custody at Rockingham County Jail.
