MERRIMACK, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A New Hampshire man accused of donning a Pres. Barack Obama mask during a bank robbery in Merrimack was arrested Wednesday.
John Griffin, Jr., 52, of Newport, N.H., has been charged with robbery for the incident which occurred at the Bank of America located at 356 Daniel Webster Hwy. at about 10:38 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers responded to the bank after it was reported a man in a full face Obama mask, suit coat, tie and jeans had just demanded cash from a teller and fled the bank on foot.
Witnesses were able to tell police the direction the male fled, and officers tracked the suspect down in the area of Columbia Circle. Griffin was taken into custody without incident.
Upon further investigation, officers learned Griffin was in possession of a loaded handgun during the alleged robbery.
Griffin is charged with robbery and is being held on $75,000 cash only bail until his probably cause hearing on Sept. 20.
