• Police: NH man attempted to strangle his former girlfriend


    TEWKSBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A 20-year-old New Hampshire man is facing an attempting murder charge after he broke into his former girlfriend's hotel room and tried to strangled her, police said.

    Officers from the Tewksbury Police Dept. responded to the Extended Stay America hotel on Andover Street at about 9 p.m. after receiving a call about a domestic argument.

    Upon arrival, officers were told the couple had gone back to the female's room. Inside the room, officers could hear the female screaming, "Stop it. Stop it. Get off of me."

    When officers entered the room, they saw a man, later identified as Keegan Cardin, of South Hampton, who was out of breath and sweating profusely.

    The victim told police Cardin had strangled her. She further told police that Cardin had tried to strangle her free once before, but she was able to break free.

    Police said the victim had injuries consistent with her story.

    The victim told police Cardin was her on again, off again boyfriend of two to three years. She suspected Cardin was on heroin at the time of the alleged assault.

    Cardin was arrested and charged with attempted murder to wit strangulation and assault and battery. He was arraigned in Lowell District Court Monday.
