WAREHAM (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Wareham are searching for a male suspect who reportedly impersonated an officer and assaulted a woman on Saturday night.
Wareham Police told the South Coast Today that a male driving a dark midsized SUV or pickup truck flashed a blue light at the female victim while she was driving on Main Street around 9 p.m.
The female victim pulled over, and the male suspect approached her vehicle and told her that she had a defective tail light. He asked her to produce her driver's license and step outside the vehicle, but the female driver, suspecting he was not an officer, started to drive away.
As she was pulling away, the suspect hit her in the face with a flashlight causing minor injury, police told the newspaper.
The suspect is described as a white male around 40-years-old. He is approximately 5'8" tall with dark hair and a bulging Adam's apple. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark shirt under a bright yellow coat.
